Why does MECOS use "cookies" and other tracking technologies?

A "cookie" is a file that our webserver may send to your computer when you access our Site. This file is then stored on your computer. After you have entered personal information into a form or data field on our Site, MECOS may use cookies and certain other technologies to allow that Web site to "remember" your personal preferences, such as sections of that Web site that you visit frequently and, if you choose, your user ID. We do not store any personal information or payment information in cookies.

Cookies can also help MECOS see which areas of the site are popular and which are not, allowing MECOS to improve and update our Site based on data such as total number of visitors and pages viewed. Passive information collection technologies can also make your use of our Site easier by allowing MECOS to provide better service, customize experiences based on consumer preferences, compile statistics, analyze trends, and otherwise administer and improve our Site.

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies but allow you to instruct your browser to prevent the use of cookies. (The “Help” portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether). If you disable cookies, you may still use our Site, but certain aspects of the experience may be impacted.

We may associate information we collect via cookies with the personal information we collect online. We may use the combined information, for example, to personalize your experience on our Site or to personalize marketing communications we may send to you.

What types of cookies and other tracking technologies does MECOS use?

MECOS uses two main types of cookies on our Site; session cookies and persistent cookies.

Session cookies are temporary cookies that expire at the end of a browser session; that is, when you leave our Site. Session cookies allow the website to recognize you as you navigate between pages during a single browser session and allow you to use our Site more efficiently. For example, session cookies enable a website to remember that a user has placed items in an online shopping basket.

Persistent cookies are stored on your computer or device between browsing sessions until they expire or are deleted. They therefore enable the website to recognize you on your return, remember your preferences, and tailor services to you.

In addition to session cookies and persistent cookies, there may be other cookies which are set by the website which you have chosen to visit, such as this website, in order to provide us or third parties with information.

What choices do I have about MECOS's use of cookies and other tracking technologies?

We give users the opportunity to "opt out" of having their personal information used for purposes not directly related to the operation of the service at the point where we ask for the information. If you prefer to "opt out" and not have us send you material we think may be of interest to you, such as promotional mailings/e-mails from us and sites and companies we own or work with, then you can notify us by writing to us at enquires@mecosdesign.com. Your instructions to limit the use of your information will be processed as soon as reasonably practicable.
